An investigation by special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has led to the indictment of two Johnson City nurses on charges related to drug diversion and fraud. On Feb. 8, after being contacted by the Tennessee Department of Health Division of Health Related Boards, TBI special agents with the Drug Investigation Division began investigating allegations that Sarah Elizabeth Thacker, 31, was using her position as a registered nurse with the Johnson City Medical Center and Franklin Woods Hospital to fraudulently obtain controlled substances.

Telford Man Sought In Wife's Disappearance Found Dead
The husband of a missing woman from Telford apparently took his own life Thursday morning in a vacant house at 147 Miller Drive after barricading himself inside, Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal said in a news release. Curtis Lee Cloyd, of 149 Slate Hill Road, was sought by investigators for questioning in connection with the disappearance of his wife, 53-year-old Lisa Maria Cloyd, who was reported missing Aug. 3 by her son.

A woman who allegedly eluded sheriff's deputies during a June 15 vehicle pursuit was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with felony counts of evading arrest and reckless endangerment. Angel Nicole Hurley, 26, of 250 Joe Hurley Road, Mohawk, was also charged with driving on a suspended license, Deputy Frank Cedillo said in a report.

Searchers Look For Missing Telford Woman On River
Washington County authorities took to the water Thursday as part of their search for any evidence connected to the disappearance of a Telford woman last seen alive on July 20. No clues relating to the suspicious disappearance of 53-year-old Lisa Maria Cloyd were apparently found during a search of a section of the Nolichucky River, Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal said. The Swift Water Rescue team concentrated on an area of the river off Highway 81 near the border of Washington and Unicoi counties, Graybeal said.

A mother's search for alleged drunk driver who killed daughter turns to Kenner
More than six months after her daughter was killed in a head-on collision with a drunk driver, a Tennessee mother is still chasing the man authorities say is responsible for that fatal crash. The driver, identified by authorities as 30-year-old Alan Jacob Mogollon-Anaya, disappeared shortly after the accident and can't be found.

Home Improvement Fraud Alleged Against Chuckey Man
A Chuckey man who allegedly was paid for building a home patio but never did the work was charged Tuesday by Johnson City police with fraud by a home improvement services provider. A Johnson City police report said that Cutshaw agreed on March 24 to construct a patio at a house on Vicksburg Road, "but never performed the work for which he was paid," a report said.

A 42-year-old Telford man who led Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers on a pursuit Tuesday afternoon before wrecking the car he was driving was charged with a battery of offenses, including driving under the influence-5th offense and felony counts of reckless endangerment and evading arrest. Jason Lloyd Ball had a first scheduled appearance Wednesday afternoon on the charges in Washington County General Sessions Court.

Tennessee boys basketball booster indicted for theft
The Tennessee comptroller's office says a former high school basketball team's booster club leader was indicted after an investigation found she stole more than $6,100 from the group. A comptroller's office news release says a Washington County grand jury this month indicted former Science Hill High School Boys Basketball Boosters President Kimberly Charles on one theft count over $2,500.

Police: Tenn. inmates fake heart attacks to catch ambulance rides
WJHL reports that inmates in Washington County have faked heart attacks or other serious medical conditions and then left hospitals before doctors could see them. EMS Chief Dan Wheeley said each trip costs taxpayers about $600 if the person is uninsured and may also take an ambulance away from someone who actually needs it.

Menge, 35, of South Roan Street, Johnson City, was charged late Saturday night by Greeneville police with driving under the influence after officers went to the area of Taco Bell on East Andrew Johnson Highway to investigate a possible intoxicated driver call. A witness told police a car nearly struck him at Serral Drive, Officer Aaron Spears said in a report.

Pregnant mother and man shot dead in triple homicide in Johnson City
According to WBIR 10News' sister station WCYB in Bristol, Va., the Washington County Sheriff's Office found 23-year-old Kyanna Howes Vaughn and 25-year-old Robert Aaron Vaughn dead from gunshot wounds around 7 p.m. Monday. Kyanna was six to seven months pregnant.
